“Half Breed Acadian Indians”

“Half Breed Acadian Indians”

The following is a “Public Archives Canada” transcription of a letter from Captain Roderick McKenzie to William Forster written on November 03, 1761. What’s important is that Captain McKenzie clearly distinguishes between the “Acadians”, the “Indians”, and the “Half Breed Acadian Indians” in the region from Gaspe to Baie Verte. Also important to note, is that Captain McKenzie didn’t know how to classify these “Half Breed Acadian Indians.”
